“In many Shamanic Societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited or depressed, they would ask one of four questions:
When did you stop dancing?
When did you stop singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by stories?
When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?”
~Gabrielle Roth
Gabrielle Roth died last fall at the age of 71. She changed the face of dance while she was here. And last night, at a Red Tent Wild Woman ceremony, I danced with Gabrielle’s 5 Rhythms;
Flowing
Staccato
Chaos
Lyrical
Stillness
And the dance changed me.
Thank you, Gabrielle. You will be missed here.
I see you now, out beyond, happily dancing among the stars…
