Conscious Tidbits – Tree Poems

“There is always music amongst the trees in the Garden,
but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it.”

~Minnie Aumonier

“Trees are poems the earth writes upon the sky”
~Khalil Gibran

“What we are doing to the forests of the world is but
a mirror reflection of what we are doing to
ourselves and to one another.”
~Gandhi

Mountain Gratitude

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you,
and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”
~John Muir, 1901

I am so grateful to live here, bathed in the energy of mountain! Two years ago, after decades living in the flatlands of the Midwest, I jumped at the chance to move to the Rocky Mountains. And my life has opened up to vast new vistas and amazing new ideas since then.  It is the vast and expansive energy of the mountains playing in me and with me.

I am so grateful.

Holy Night

Sun

falls over the edge of

a silent Earth

reverent day’s end

holy night slides in

and dark expands into

a landscape of dreams

I am full of this night

potent with possibility

in this dark space

waiting for moonrise

 and remembering

the light.

The World

The trees are like the hair of the world.
The city is like the heart of the world.
The wind is a flute player
playing in the night…

Both poems are from the book Salting the Ocean; 100 Poems by Young Poets.  All of the poems in Salting the Ocean were written by kids in grades 1-12.

The Green

Green, everywhere green

Falling water cascades

Ripples out anew.

Icy fingers caress

I glide through

Search for other side.

A shiver of fear

I am in the heart

Behind the falling tears.
