I No Longer Pray

An Offering to Earth , Sun and Moon

I no longer pray—
now I drink dark chocolate
and let the moon sing to me.

I no longer pray—
I let my ancestors dance
through my hips
at the slightest provocation.

I no longer pray—
I go to the river
and howl my ancient pain
into the current.

I no longer pray—
I ache, I desire,
I say “yes” to my longing.

I no longer pray as I was taught
but as the stars crawl
onto my lap like soft animals at nighttime
and God tucks my hair behind my ears
with the gentle fingers of her wind
and a new intimacy is uncovered in everything,
perhaps it’s that I’m finally learning
how to pray.

Full Moon Heart Tending

Full moon in fiery Aries, the spiritual warrior. Heart energy is running high. Pluto also just stationed direct, which may stir up shadow aspects within you that need light and love.

Use this time to tend your inner fire. Breathe into your heart and fan your inner flame. Take some action to honor all that you are; all the strengths and frailties that make you unique and powerful.

Breathe in Love.
Breathe out Love.

Sunlight

Down near the bottom
of the crossed-out list
of things you have to do today,
between “green thread”
and “broccoli,” you find
that you have penciled “sunlight.”

Resting on the page, the word
is beautiful. It touches you
as if you had a friend
and sunlight were a present
he had sent from someplace distant
as this morning—to cheer you up,
and to remind you that,

among your duties, pleasure
is a thing
that also needs accomplishing.

Do you remember?
that time and light are kinds
of love, and love
is no less practical
than a coffee grinder
or a safe spare tire?

Tomorrow you may be utterly
without a clue,
but today you get a telegram
from the heart in exile,
proclaiming that the kingdom
still exists,
the king and queen alive,
still speaking to their children,

—to any one among them
who can find the time
to sit out in the sun and listen.

Full Moon in Virgo

Mama Earth, Our Home

Full moon in earthy Virgo, the keeper of Earth’s rhythms and cycles.

Don’t be surprised if you catch yourself delving into the details of issues and habits that need to change. Analysis can be a great use of Virgo energy, but try not to overdo it. Be gentle with yourself. You really don’t need to alter every aspect of your life.

With the moon now in Virgo and spring equinox just around the corner, it is the perfect time to connect with and honor Mama Earth.

Spend some time out in nature, and express your gratitude to Mama Earth for the food, water, air and shelter she provides. No need to create an elaborate ritual; simply express your love and gratitude to Mama Earth in some simple way.
