Nine Fat Robins

Nine fat Robins twitter in the tree

Wait! there are five… Now three

Soon seven red breasts perch and preen

Each one as regal as a queen.

I watch the party, aching to meet and greet

I watch and wonder, what’s the news on my street?

But soon they all fly away, every one

In a flurry of wings; their party is done.

I am left behind with just a memory and a sigh

I perch in my seat and try not to cry

But when I close my eyes, it is feathers I see

A soaring dream of flight… Robins’ gift to me.

Holy Night

Sun

falls over the edge of

a silent Earth

reverent day’s end

holy night slides in

and dark expands into

a landscape of dreams

I am full of this night

potent with possibility

in this dark space

waiting for moonrise

 and remembering

the light.

The World

The trees are like the hair of the world.
The city is like the heart of the world.
The wind is a flute player
playing in the night…

Tree Joy

The trees are whispering to me,
reminding me of my roots, and my reach
… shhhhhh…
can you hear them?
Selflessly sharing their subtle song

~Jeb Dickerson

The Everyday is Sacred

hours of forgetting

then a flash of sunlight

wind ruffles wet flesh

awash in sensation

heart stills, time stops

and I open myself

to this

falling awake

to  sun and bone

wind on water

I am here

all here in

sacred space
