Becoming Elder

“…To a woman of the Celtic nations, to become Elder is above all to become Cailleach: to represent the integrity and health of the wild places and creatures of this world.

To become Elder is to become strong – strong as the white old bones of the earth, strong enough to endure the long, lonely vigil to the end of the world.

To become Elder is to hold the power, stay the course.

Above all, to become Elder is to become the bean feasa, the Wise Woman: the one who knows the secrets and speaks the languages of the land, who speaks with the moral authority of the Otherworld, who weaves the dreaming of the world.”

Sovereign Full Moon in Leo

Fiery full moon in Leo. This moon is known as the Snow Moon in the northern hemisphere. Paradoxically, even as we turn toward spring, the heaviest snows blanket the land.

Leo is the champion of self-love, personal power and sovereignty.

Are there places or relationships where you need to stand up for yourself and your needs?

How can you honor and love yourself even more now?

Where do you need to shift in order to embrace your personal sovereignty and rule your own life?

Prayer for the New Year

🕸

Gossamer threads of life hold me,
Perched between Earth and Sky,
Weaving the web, dreaming the dream,
Through the two worlds I will fly.
With you as my muse, Mother,
I create the substance of dreams,
Allowing the artist within me
To fashion my life with esteem.
I mold the clay of experiences
Into a sacred Medicine Bowl,
Capturing the essence of living
As it sings deep in my soul.
Your secrets of creation, Mother,
Have taught me when to destroy
The chains that have bound me,
Limiting the expression of my joy.
You have taught me how to labor,
Giving birth to the visions within,
Setting them free like silver arrows,
Kindling the fire of Creation again.

Nihilistic New Moon in Scorpio

New moon in Scorpio, shamanic queen of dark, raw emotions and shadow work. Wild geomagnetic storms are bombarding us. And Uranus and Saturn continue to stir the pot. It’s crazy out there.

You may be feeling like everything is pointless, sad and bleak. But you’re simply exhausted from months of global chaos. Your nihilist shadow part has come out to dance for a day or two. It’s time to shed a skin.

Be gentle with your inner nihilist. Love yourself enough to hold your dark side close and listen to what it has to say. Underneath the pain, there is wisdom in your dark.

Allow yourself to weep, wail and gnash your teeth over the state of the world and your life. Yes, it’s true; a lot of things are f&%ked up. And it’s hard to see how this ends well. So weep and wail and lament your fate..

Yes there is darkness. But every good thing you do, every kindness you share ripples out and creates more light. So be kind to yourself and honor your darkness.

Time to shed the skin you’ve outgrown and see what’s underneath.

She Who Changes

“She changes everything She touches and everything She touches changes.

The world is Her body. The world is in Her and She is in the world. She surrounds us like the air we breathe. She is as close to us as our own breath. She is energy, movement, life, and change. She is the ground of freedom, creativity, sympathy, understanding, and love. In Her we live, and move, and co-create our being. She is always there for each and every one of us, particles of atoms, cells, animals, and human animals. We are precious in Her sight. She understands and remembers us with unending sympathy. She inspires us to live creatively, joyfully, and in harmony with others in the web of life.

Yet choice is ours. The world that is Her body is co-created. The choices of every individual particle of an atom, every individual cell, every individual animal, every individual human animal play a part. The adventure of life on planet earth and in the universe as a whole will be enhanced or diminished by the choices we make. She hears the cries of the world, sharing our sorrows with infinite compassion.

In a still, small voice, She whispers the desire of Her heart: Life is meant to be enjoyed. She sets before us life and death. We can choose life. Change is. Touch is. Everything we touch can change.”

Visionary Full Moon

Full moon in Aquarius, the visionary. Tonight is the perfect time to sit with the moon and meditate on the future you want to create. Ask for a good vision to catch you.

Ask. Get still. Listen.

May a good vision catch me
May a benevolent vision take hold of me, and move me
May a deep and full vision come over me, and burst open around me
May a luminous vision inform me, enfold me.
May I awaken into the story that surrounds,
May I awaken into the beautiful story.
May the wondrous story find me;
May the wildness that makes beauty arise between two lovers
arise beautifully between my body and the body of this land,
between my flesh and the flesh of this earth,
here and now,
on this day,
May I taste something sacred.
